Description

This 1968 Jaguar XKE 2+2 is a Series 1.5 coupe that isfinished in metallic green over beige leather upholstery and powered by a4.2-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Featuresinclude air conditioning, a louvered hood, triple SU carburetors, four-wheeldisc brakes with inboard-mounted rears, and polished knock-off wire wheels. Thecar reportedly remained with its original owner in California until around 2009and was acquired by the seller approximately three years ago. This XKE 2+2 isnow being offered with a tool roll, manufacturer’s literature, service records,a Jaguar Formula One racing suit, and a clean California title in the seller’sname.
The Series 1.5 XKE featured early-style taillightsmounted above the rear bumper as well as exposed headlights. Said to have beenpreviously finished in white, this example was repainted its current shade ofmetallic green sometime in the mid-2010s. The weatherstripping and door sealshave been replaced, and the rear hatch glass was replaced in 2015. Exteriorfeatures include a louvered hood, a chrome driver’s side mirror, dual exhaustoutlets, and a retractable rear fender-mounted antenna.
Polished 15” wire wheels are secured by knock-offspinners and mounted with Hankook Optimo H724 whitewall tires that wereinstalled in 2012. A full-size spare is found in the rear storage area.Stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rears thatwere fitted with replacement calipers and rotors in 2015, while the brake padswere replaced in August 2020. The torsion bars and upper and lower control armbushings were replaced approximately seven years ago.
The cabin was refreshed during prior ownership andhouses seats trimmed in Connolley beige leather along with replacement carpets.Additional equipment includes lap belts, an analog clock, rocker switches forvehicle functions, and an air conditioning system that has been fitted with arebuilt compressor and was recharged with R134a refrigerant in July 2021. Theseller notes the aftermarket radio is inoperable.
A wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel is mounted toa replacement steering column and sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation thatincludes a 160-mph speedometer, a 5,500-rpm tachometer, and a quartet ofauxiliary gauges in the walnut-accented center stack. The five-digit odometershows approximately 20k miles, around 500 of which have been added duringcurrent ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter inline-six 8L engine is said to havebeen rebuilt during prior ownership and features triple SU carburetors thatwere installed in 2015 by Westland British Cars of Thousand Oaks, California.The engine mounts and exhaust manifolds were replaced that same year, while thefuel pump, fan motor, fan switch, and central ignition coil were replaced in2020. A replacement alternator was fitted in December 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Borg Warnerthree-speed automatic transmission that was rebuilt in 2015 by Village Kar Kareof Westlake Village, California.
